What’s the deal with labels?

As I noted in the previous posts, nothing moves me more than a great handbag. I spend way too much money and own way too many handbags, but it’s one of my few vices in life. I truly believe a great handbag can totally make a look. What I cannot stand are the handbags with the designer logo plastered all over the bag. Everyday, I see women all over the city prancing around showing off not their handbag, but the designer. It tells me that they have no fashion identity and simply want a bag with a popular logo.

Personally, I pick a bag for the way it looks. I will then by other things to go with it. Sure, the designer matters, but for the quality of the product, not to try and fit into the latest fad. The four biggest offenders are Coach, Dooney, Gucci and Louis Vuitton. I own several bags from all four of these designers and only one of them has the designer logo anywhere on the bag. Gucci and Louis Vuitton make some great bags, but a great majority of women ignore the bags because they don’t have the logo.

I guess it’s much easier to show off with this:

Than with this:
